I have a perm, so obviously it takes a long time to straighten my hair so I have to do it at night after I have washed my hair and let it air dry. In the morning I just go back over it with my straightener, and it loks alright. During the day it gets really greasy. What can I do to keep it smooth and not greasy without having to wash it i the morning?
When I straighten my hair, it gets greasy.?
Perms are not good for your hair. Let the perm grow out, and keep your natural hair. It will become soft and supple, and it won't look greasy anymore when you straighten it.
Reason why it's looking greasy is because you are destroying the hair shaft with a combo of chemicals (from the perm) and over-heating (from the straightening iron). Your hair is drying out, losing its sheen, and fighting to produce natural oils. As a result...the look is greasy.
Eventually, if you keep on getting perms and also using the straightening iron, the greasy look will go away and you will have very brittle dry hair. And that's not the healthy way to go!
Here's what to do:
Definitely let the perm grow out and deal with the "growing out" phase (even when you don't like how you look for five/six months). Deal with what I call the "ugly phase", until you get the beautiful, healthy, soft, supply, natural hair you want.
Using the straightening iron is damaging (although I use it too). So, use it only once/week (if that)...like on special occasions. Make certain you have a "ceramic coated" straightening iron (and not metal on your hair). This will protect your hair from burning.
You may do best buying one in the $50-$100 range from Sally Hansen or another type of salon supply store. Just be certain that it is ceramic coated.
Re: greasiness. Are you over-conditioning your hair to compensate for the damage? Are you adding all sorts of anti-frizz gels and such? Don't overdo these things, because you can over-grease your hair, and end up with the greasy/oily look you describe.
To help yourself, wash your hair every THREE-FOUR days. That's what I do. I have nice healthy hair, which has no grease at all, no dandruff, and no damage. I get it trimmed every four months. People have NO IDEA that I haven't washed it in three-four days!
When I condition, I get a nice big glob of conditioner (every three days, after a washing), and rub it in evenly throughout towel-dried, damp hair. Then, I put it up in a twisty towel thingy, and leave it in my hair for 20 minutes. Then rinse with very warm water. Then FINAL rinse with very COLD water (this part is very important because the warm water opens the hair follical, while the cold water seals is and closes it, allowing you to have rich, supple, non-fly-away hair! It helps the frizzies a lot!)
Hairdressers always tell me I have excellent, healthy hair! It's nice and thick, and I take care of it well!
Good luck!

Don't touch it. Those of us who have curly hair tend to mess with our hair when it is straight because it feels so different. Also, make sure that you are not using too much product. Use a great straightener and you won't need nearly as much product.

Dont use a conditioner. Use a 2 in 1 shampoo w/ conditioner.Conditioner makes your hair more greasy and oily.

I have naturally wavy hair, that can be straightend easyily. But I used to have this problem also, I would wash my hair the night before then in the morning before school I would straighten it, and during the day it would just become oily and gross. Well I bought a new straigtener because before I had a wal-mart one. I bought the chi, not the real chi though it was a european version of the american chi, and I now I wash my hair at night then blow dry and then straighten it and now it stays pretty and un oily for about a day and a half. I just recently bought another straightener to, the realy Chi, and I love it! If you want to buy one you would have to go to your local hair salon, but im not sure if they sell to the public so you might have to shop around a bit, or you can buy it online like on ebay or something, but these are some WONDERFUL straighteners, they are kinda pricey but they are worth it and they last.

Go to local drug store and buy Sea Breeze, for oily skin and
scalp.Put some in a spray bottle spray on scalp and you can use this on face too. You don't need to rinse off,it's optional.
all products build up so get a shampoo that is formulated to remove
products from hair periodically.Change products you are using to a competitor.Try different products to see what works better.
