I straighten my hair on a reg. basis so when I try to curl it w/ an iron it won't stay.?

I don't want gunky(from hairspray) tight curls...I rather have loose curls that don't look like I spent all day trying to get that look.

If I don't straighten my hair it's a frizz ball so thats not an option.

Are there any other options for me to have the loose curls stay for more than 5 mins.?Any special products I should try?

Thanks for you your time....

try the curlers that you put in all at 1 time. It only takes about ten minutes to curl. But if you want non gunky hairspray try SAMMY hairspray I'm not saying you have too. If you do choose the SAMMY hairspray put a little on your hair before you curl it.

PS I curl my hair all the time with SAMMY its not gunky!!!!!!!

First of all, not to be racist at all but i need to know what race you are to answer the question because as you know different ethnicities hare different textures of hair. Then I can help.

1) what type of hair do you have cos african style hair will be different from straight hair.

also when i do curl my hair i use a little bit of hairspray after because naturally hair will go back to how it was. and if you use a little bit it doesnt look 'gunky' cos you dont notice it, it just holds it. i have heard that leaving a little bit of conditioner in works in some hair but havn't tried it...

Don't straighten your hair, as it's naturally curly. Instead, you should enhance the bounce of your curls. And don't put hairspray!!!! Put some mousse for curls ( try VO5 Curvaceous Curls or John Frieda if you can afford it, and don't do product overload) on damp hair, then dry them with hair dryer for a while using a diffuser (or a specific head you can find, looks like something with little fingers on it)

if you use the normal diffuser, aim the blowdryer a few inches away from your hair and try to put on the lowest temperature you can. Then let your hair air-dry for a while (don't blow them completely dry) and it should work!

Using a thermal iron on a regular basic will not affect your hair's natural wave pattern. Using a flat iron only temporarily changes the bonds in your hair until you get it wet again. If your hair wont hold curl, it's probably just your type of hair. is it fine? if so, that happens most of the time. i have very thick, but fine hair, and if i dont use a lot of hairspray, it falls right out.
